Where Did The Time Go?
Ugh, I totally get it now! I just can’t wrap my mind around the fact that tomorrow starts a new month and marks just a little over 80 days until Christmas. Wasn’t it just January? It’s October now? I’m so confused.
Simplify Your Life!
I spent a lot of time in September simplifying my life. Clearly, it’s not as easy as focusing on it for a month, and voila, you are all done; life de cluttered. Duh, I’m not stupid. But we always get so busy. How often do we intentionally take time to clear out the clutter? Minus the occasional rainy day, who the heck has time!
As Christians, we are to live in the world; not be of it. Sounds so easy, but it’s pretty hard. And just when I think I’ve got it mastered, wham, God slaps me back to reality.
Give It To Me...NOW!
Our world is all about instant gratification. We’re surrounded by messages daily that feed our insecurities and our desires. If we don’t have that one thing (insert yours here), then we are not on par with our peers, coworkers, family and friends. But what happens when we get that one thing? Doesn’t it always seem like we start wanting that next thing? And then the next thing…

Once we start obtaining things…we can’t stop. The mentality spills over to other avenues of our life. Think about how often we do all of the work, but give God none of the credit. How often we do life alone! God is our source of strength and refuge.
Be Silent. Be Still.
If we are always searching for the next latest and greatest thing, how can we stand still in the calm of the storm? How can we be satisfied? The answer is easy…God is God. We must know this not only intellectually, but spiritually, emotionally and physically. But when the world is too loud, we stop listening. We forget. We get caught up in things.
Right now I’m trying really hard to stop listening to the world. It’s hard, the world keeps shouting at me. And God is so quiet. I figure that if I reduce the clutter in my life; it's a good step toward quieting my mind. And if my mind is quiet, hopefully I’ll have a better chance of maintaining a heavenly perspective; instead of the worldy perspective I’m bombarded with daily.
And well, if it doesn’t work, than at least my house and life will be somewhat in greater order. And that’s got to count for something, right!

I can't believe it's October either. Time flies when you are having fun and you're right, we need to quiet our minds and listen! This world we live is just too busy.
ReplyDeleteStillness is an illusive thing in our society today. It just seems that if we aren't moving, we are judged as not being in the game! Thanks for a wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteDon’t you just love how God works in the ordinariness of our day? He manages to bring Himself to our level in order for us to understand what He is trying to teach us.
